Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah Nelson has criticized the money-focused mindset of some boxers in the current generation, stating that most of them do not want to endure hardships to succeed.

According to him, many present-day boxers lack humility, dedication, and work ethic required to excel in the sport. Speaking on his 65th birthday on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Azumah Nelson concluded that it will take several years for Ghana to produce a boxer capable of achieving even a third of his accomplishments.

“Anyone who wants to be like me must learn a lot and be disciplined,” he told Akoma FM, quoted by 3news. “It will take a miracle to produce another boxing legend because most of our contemporary boxers cannot go through pain and hard work with humility and fear of God. They don’t have it. All they think about is money, and that cannot be possible.”
