Dele Alli’s mother has responded to the shocking revelations made by the Everton midfielder about his unhappy childhood, where he claimed to have been abused and suffered the torment of an alcoholic mother. However, she sees it as “a blatant lie.”
His revelations had circulated throughout the football world. Dele Alli stated that he was sexually abused at the age of six. In a shocking interview with Gary Neville, the former Manchester United defender, the Everton midfielder revealed the abuse he experienced in his childhood before being adopted at the age of 12. He said he was “molested” at the age of six, started smoking at the age of seven, and engaged in drug trafficking at the age of eight.
His statements prompted reactions from several of his colleagues in the industry, who offered their support to the English international. But that’s not all. The 27-year-old player’s mother also spoke out about her son’s revelations. However, far from supporting her son, she asserts that his statements bear very little resemblance to the truth. While the former Tottenham player disclosed that his mother was an alcoholic, Mrs. Alli declares that “it’s a blatant lie.”
“There are claims that I was suffering from alcoholism and that I abandoned him because I couldn’t take care of him, but that’s a lie. I wanted to give him the opportunity to fulfill his dream, but he was always my son, and I was there for him whenever he needed me,” she confided to “OBJ Sport.”
She also clarifies that Dele “was never adopted by anyone.” “He attended the best schools in Lagos and was never sent to Africa due to disciplinary issues. He had a driver who picked him up from school every day.”
“We have all the documents and photos of Dele with his father since he was a young child. When he was around 13, Dele started training at MK Dons five days a week. So, for convenience, he started staying with his best friend during the week and coming home on weekends. It was difficult for me to let him live far from home, but we didn’t have a car, and it was challenging for me to take him to training,” she concluded. Dele Alli will have to explain himself.
