Manchester United is on the verge of completing the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana for nearly £50 million. The Cameroonian will replace long-time number one David de Gea, who left the club last month after 12 seasons.
In search of a goalkeeper capable of succeeding David De Gea, who was a free agent after twelve years with the Red Devils, Manchester United has finally found their answer in 27-year-old André Onana. Quickly targeted by Erik ten Hag, who worked with him from 2017 to 2022, the Cameroonian goalkeeper was particularly valued by the Dutch coach, especially for his abilities with the ball at his feet. This attractive profile prompted the English club to enter into discussions with Inter Milan.
According to the latest reports from Sky Sport Italia, the offer has been slightly increased as bonuses have been added to the €50 million transfer fee. Onana, on his part, will sign a 5-year contract, lasting until June 2028. His move to Manchester will take place between Tuesday and Thursday next week, with the official announcement following soon after.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan, who will receive a substantial fee, is pursuing the signings of two players, as an offer slightly below €6 million is expected to arrive from Bayern Munich for Yann Sommer. The Italians will also try to secure Anatoliy Trubin from Shakhtar Donetsk. If the player agrees, the Lombards are expected to present an offer of €10 million, plus bonuses, for the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
