The Confederation of African Football unveiled the official logo of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) on Friday evening, which will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Ivory Coast. The logo features the colors of the Ivorian Elephants.
The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2023) will be held in Ivory Coast, the host country of the competition. The tournament will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, and will be held in five different cities: Abidjan, the capital, as well as Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro, and Yamoussoukro. For nearly a month, the entire continent will be captivated by this major sporting event.
The Confederation of African Football is already working towards the success of the tournament. On Friday evening, the African governing body released a short animation on its social media platforms to unveil the tournament’s logo. The logo features a shield adorned with the orange and green colors of the Ivory Coast Elephants.
Seven teams have already secured their spots in the final phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Ivory Coast, as the host country, has automatically qualified. Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Tunisia have also earned their tickets through the qualifiers and are ready to compete for the prestigious trophy in the grand battle on Ivorian soil. The fifth round of qualifiers, scheduled for the upcoming weekend, will determine additional qualifiers before the final phase in September.
In the last edition held in Cameroon in 2021, Senegal emerged as the champions, defeating Algeria in the final (0-0, 4-2 on penalties). Sadio Mané, currently playing for Bayern Munich and facing a challenging season with the Bavarians, was named the tournament’s best player. Vincent Aboubakar, the captain of the Indomitable Lions, topped the goal-scoring chart with 8 goals.
