Gueu David, the village chief of Zélé (a village located at the entrance of the city of Man), and some residents expressed their indignation on Sunday, July 9, 2023, in response to a video that has gone viral on the internet, showing a young man holding a chicken with a monkey’s face.
According to information provided by the Ivorian media outlet AIP, Chief Gueu David gathered on Sunday at his house, accompanied by his top dignitary and a few leaders of the association, including the president of the youth, to present the facts. “What I want to say is that it’s all lies, it’s not here in Zélé, it’s not true, it’s not Zélé. If it’s Zélé, we would have made a statement before you arrived here. We have never heard of a chicken turning into a monkey’s face in Zélé (…). This video is fake, they fabricated it, it’s not Zélé (…).”
An absurd story that surprises everyone in the village, especially the village chief. “They showed us this video here in Zélé starting from 6 a.m. We are surprised that this video bears the name of Zélé (…). When a strange event occurs at home, everyone rushes to see, but you see, everyone goes about their business (…). It’s our brothers from Abidjan who call to ask what they are saying in your village… There is no chicken with a monkey’s head here,” informed Ernest Tia, a resident of Zele.
Furthermore, according to Sadia Eric Gueu, while it is true that the village and its surroundings have several sacred forests, they have never encountered such a situation. “It’s a video that has been edited to tarnish the name of the community,” he protested. It is learned that the author of this viral video circulating on social media, named Salié, as mentioned in the footage, is not a member of the village. “Even though Zélé is big, but all the youth; we know each other in the village here. Where we stopped, it’s the center of all the youth. There’s no young person who would say they don’t pass through here before going to the farm. We don’t know this young person here. The name Salié that he mentioned, here, we know each other by name, there’s no Salié here, and we don’t know him either,” Mr. Tia added.
Furthermore, in the morning of Sunday, July 9, 2023, all attempts to reach the person named Salié through the contact he announced during the video broadcast were unsuccessful, the source reports.
