In the midst of promoting her latest song “C’est le moment,” which is generating a real buzz on the web, Almok continues to attract attention. The Togolese singer recently posted a video where she spoke up and gave a candid response to her critics, who have been criticizing her for the frequency of her closely spaced pregnancies.
Known for her undeniable talent and captivating voice, Almok is undoubtedly one of the most popular artists in Togo. Recently back on the scene after a brief hiatus due to maternity, Almok returns with a powerful new song that is shaping up to be the summer hit in the country. Titled “C’est le moment,” the music video for the song, released a few days ago, has immediately garnered unprecedented enthusiasm, already accumulating over 600 thousand views in a week.
However, despite the success of her song and her growing popularity, the singer has been the target of harsh criticism regarding the frequency of her closely spaced pregnancies. Without being intimidated, Almok decided to speak up and respond to her critics. In an emotional video posted on her Facebook page, the proud Togolese mother conveyed a clear and unambiguous message.
“To the two women who just insulted me in the Kabyè language at Lomé airport, I hope you have already taken the time to watch my music video. Thank you for all the insults you hurled at my family and me, thinking we wouldn’t understand Kabyè. You claimed that my husband doesn’t allow me to sing and pursue my career, alleging that he gets me pregnant every year. I’ve heard it all, because my husband is also Kabyè.”
“The fruits of marriage are children. I will get pregnant again. I will soon be 40 years old, so I will have more children. For now, I have 3, and I will ask my husband to get me pregnant again. In Africa, when you get married, it’s for the children. Children are a blessing,” she declared confidently.
Seizing the opportunity, Almok also revealed that she had always intended to have at least 6 children, being the only child of her parents herself. “I am my mother’s only child, and that’s why I’ll have as many children as I want,” she said before inviting everyone to watch her music video. This courageous response from Almok demonstrates her determination to defend her life choices and overcome the prejudices that often surround motherhood.
As a reminder, Almok married Nicolas Yao Tossa in 2017. The couple now has three children. The singer welcomed her third child last March. “I am happy to announce that we have our third child within our family. I have given birth to a new baby. I know many people will be surprised because you haven’t seen my belly,” she said in a video posted on her TikTok on March 10th.
