The Ghanaian Black Queens have qualified for the second round of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers following their crushing victory over Guinea (4-0) in Accra on Tuesday. The Ghanaian women’s team will face the Beninese Amazons in the next round.
Ghana showed no mercy to the modest Guinean team on Tuesday in Accra. In a second-leg match of the first-round qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Black Queens emerged victorious with a resounding 4-0 scoreline against the Guinea women’s national team.
Forward Evelyn Badu scored a brace, opening the scoring for her team in the first half and adding another goal after the halftime break. Goals from Princella Adubea and Fridaus Yakubu further solidified the home team’s advantage in what was a display of dominance by the Black Queens.
Having already defeated the Guinean team in Conakry (3-0), Ghana secured an overall victory of 7-0 in the two-legged tie. This sends a strong message to the Beninese Amazons, who will be their opponents in the next preliminary round in October. It’s worth noting that the Beninese team secured their spot in the next round after a victory over Guinea-Bissau (2-2, 3-2).
