Professor Franklin Nyamsi, former advisor to the former president of the Ivorian National Assembly, Guillaume Soro, is considering taking Radio France Internationale (RFI) to court for defamation, according to ActuCameroun.
In an article published on July 17 and edited the following day, RFI focused on “Russian Influences in Africa.” In the piece, RFI mentioned Professor Franklin Nyamsi as one of the Pan-Africanists being followed by Moscow in Africa.
“In its crusade against this ‘decadent West,’ Moscow can count on the support of certain personalities who present themselves as Pan-Africanists. Kemi Seba, Nathalie Yamb, or Franklin Nyamsi, with millions of followers on social media, have the mission to undo French influence in Africa and build a new narrative glorifying Moscow,” the article stated.
This sparked a reaction from Professor Franklin Nyamsi, who is considering legal action against the media outlet. “As soon as an African intellectual, activist, or militant is not subject to Françafrique, it is absolutely necessary, for the RFI bigwigs, to declare that they are Moscow’s lackeys. I intend to submit these statements by RFI to my team of lawyers and consider filing a lawsuit for defamation, slander, and harm to my honor and integrity against RFI. Suggesting that I am on a mission for Moscow is an attempt to subject me to French intelligence operations. I will not let this infringement on my freedom, integrity, and life go unnoticed,” he reacted on Twitter.
