In Côte d’Ivoire, in a serious traffic accident at the exit of Kocoumbo, a commune located 26 kilometers from Toumodi on the Toumodi-Oumé axis, two men tragically lost their lives and a woman had her hand amputated on Monday, July 17, 2023.
According to witnesses, the driver of a Kia truck carrying beverage crates with 2 passengers was driving at high speed in heavy rain when, in the darkness, he was surprised by a truck loaded with logs that was broken down and parked on the road without any indication of its presence.
As a result, the force of the impact caused the driver and his passenger to suffer certain death, with their heads and limbs crushed, while the 23-year-old passenger suffered a cut on her left hand and serious head injuries.
After being informed of the tragedy, the civilian firefighters from Bélier, upon arriving at the scene of the incident, found the victims and took care of the woman, who was evacuated to the general hospital in Toumodi, in the presence of the gendarmerie units from Djékanou and Kocoumbo. As for the bodies of the deceased individuals, they were handed over to the funeral services.
