The gathering planned on the Grand-Bassam toll highway to celebrate the 63rd Independence Day Anniversary of Côte d’Ivoire, on Monday, August 7, 2023, has been canceled due to the death of Henri Konan Bédié, President of PDCI-RDA.
According to the official statement seen by BÉNIN WEB TV, this cancellation follows the ten-day mourning period declared after the death of former President of Côte d’Ivoire, Henri Konan Bédié, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the PISAM clinic in Abidjan.
However, an Armament Ceremony will take place at the Presidential Palace in Plateau on the same day. Additionally, President Alassane Ouattara has announced that the Ivorian government will declare a three-day national mourning period.
It should be noted that the death of Konan Bédié represents a major loss for Côte d’Ivoire. For many years, he was a respected leader of the country.
