The only representative of Benin at the 2023 School Football World Cup taking place in Morocco from July 22 to July 31, the CEG Sainte Rita, begins its tournament this Monday against Mexico, the team in Group C.
Reserved for players under 18 years old, the 2023 School Football World Cup is taking place in Morocco with the participation of 29 teams from 22 countries around the world. The teams are divided into 5 groups of 4 teams and 3 groups of 3 teams. The CEG Sainte Rita from Benin starts its campaign this Monday. They are in Group C alongside the host country, and will face Mexico 2 (the second men’s team of Mexico) at 10 a.m.
In the afternoon, at 4:45 p.m., the team coached by Sévérin Danha will play their second match against Morocco 1 (the first men’s team of Morocco). The following day, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Benin will face England 2 (the second men’s team of England) at 9:45 a.m. These are tough challenges for the Beninese team, with the mission of matching their performance from the discipline’s CAN in South Africa, where they reached the semi-finals. It’s worth noting that Guinea, Kenya, and Libya are the other African teams participating in this School World Cup.
The matches will be played in two halves of 30 minutes with a 10-minute break, except for the final, which is scheduled to be played in two halves of 40 minutes with a 10-minute break. The top two teams from each group after the group stage will qualify for the Round of 16.
